This Solar Sequence is a wellbeing must know, and staple of yoga to energise the body and ease out stiffness.
Sun Salutations, in Hatha Yoga, are a sequence of 12 body postures shown in the image below. They make a great workout for the cardiovascular system when performed with a fast pace, or incredibly relaxing & reflective practice when done slowly with attention. The body becomes very warm during this sequence, building heat like the sun. The symbolism of this sequence asks us to think about the radiance of the sun, and how we can be more like that in life.
The Sun never looks at the earth & says ‘You owe me” HāFIZ
The sun just gives and nurtures unconditionally. The sun is the source of all light, it makes the plants grow, it is the source of all life on earth. How often can we say we are able to give in this way?
In our physical body, the solar plexus is the central point of the human body that is behind the navel. It incorporates the nerve pathway for regulating the release of adrenaline into the bloodstream. The consistent performance of Sun Salutations can boost the solar plexus. As a result, vitality, confidence, ingenuity, instinctive and mental abilities increase. Simply put, it helps us find and grow the energy to turn DESIRE into ACTION!
Once you’ve got the moves down, add in the breathing technique for an extra boost, beginning with deep exhale.
